STEM Program
Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math

What is STEM?
STEM stands for science, technology, engineering, and math. Sailing is a natural platform to teach these concepts. Boats themselves are products of engineering and math, are propelled through the environment by natural forces, and have developed over centuries with the advancement of technology. Participants are able to learn concepts by experiencing real life examples on and near the water.

We are building the lessons to integrate with science curriculum in schools. Lessons will be adaptable to the grade level of the participant.

Activities include:

Building compasses
Exploring water displacement property with clay
Simple machines and examples in sailing
Water filtration

And more!

This is primarily shore- based; there will be occasional sailing as it fits with the curriculum. All materials will be provided. Recommended for ages 9-14.
