Racing is long distance format, with the exact course determined shortly before the race starts. The race usually lasts a little over an hour.
Both racing series will have a designated crew. If more crew are needed, subs may be added from the other crew not sailing that night. Boat call for both evenings is 6 pm and the boat leaves the dock at 6:30. Please arrive on time to help prepare the boat for racing.
The season will begin with an orientation and work sessions (April and May) to prepare the boat for launch. Work sessions are not required but highly recommended for expanding knowledge of boat mechanics and for team building.
Extra Sailing Opportunities
The local racing organization- Detroit Regional Yacht-racing Association (DRYA)- facilitates Saturday racing with local member clubs. Macho Duck is registered and planning to race in a handful of the races based on interest and availability.
In addition, fun sails and further races can be added based on interest and availability.
Space is Limited
Tuesday Series total crew positions available - 10
Wednesday Series - total crew positions available - 8
Saturday Series total crew positions available - 6
This is a lot of races for the season and showcases some of the best sailing opportunities the Detroit area has to offer.
