PARTNERSHIP WITH DETROIT SWIMS

FREE Water Safety Course for CTW Participants

This season we are continuing our partnership with Detroit Swims, a local non-profit focused on water safety education. Water safety is an integral part of sailing, and our goal is to provide an opportunity to make our participants’ experience on the water even better and safer.

With Detroit Swims, we are offering a FREE water safety course:

July 10th to 13th (Monday through Thursday)
1- 2:15 pm
Belle Isle Beach

Classes will be held at the beach (in the Detroit River), and are focused on water safety: skills include floating, jumping, face in the water, jump/ turn/ reach, life jacket safety, self-rescue, and advancing into swim stamina if they are ready. Equipment can be provided by Detroit Swims, including a bathing suit, goggles, swim cap, towel, and a bag (if participants have personal gear they are comfortable in, that is recommended).

Even if participants have swim experience, this is still a valuable opportunity as they include water safety around docks and open water, which is our environment during the sailing program.

Detroit Swims instructors are patient, understanding, and work with the skill level of the participant. Lifeguard is on duty at all times. Participation in this program is not required, but HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. Please take advantage of this wonderful opportunity!

To register, please fill out the Google Form linked below to hold your spot. If you have questions, please reach out!

If your child is in the sailing program during the morning, they can be supervised between programs and you do not have to return.
