Update on a former Detroit Community Sailing board member who was recently convicted of a 2020 sexual assault on a minor at his home in northern Michigan that occurred several years ago.
We have received questions about former board member, Bob DeClercq’s involvement with us. Here are the facts.

- Yes, he was on our board. He was last active over 15 years ago.
- His participation was limited to attendance at board of director meetings.
- He never had any participation in the operation of our program, never had any contact with our students, and never had any contact with parents.
- We take the safety of all our participants and staff very seriously and value the resources provided by US Sailing and US Center for Safe Sport.
